Happy New Year!

Hey, just a wee note to say Happy New Year and give everyone a heads up on the impending work at Little Belmont Street. We will be closing from the 8th of January until 10am on the Friday the 13th (kilau’s 8th Birthday!!) Whilst we are closed, we will be mostly doing painting and plumbing and trying to smarten up those pesky toilets. We are hoping that 2012 will be a great year for kilau, we got confirmation of our building warrant for the high street shop in mid december, so we are hoping to start work on the upstairs early January too!

I hope this year brings everyone what they hope for, and look forward to seeing you in one of the shops soon.

Movember at kilau, old aberdeen

Gentlemen. It’s nearing Movember, that most gentlemanly time of year, and we are issuing a rallying call.
This year we are opening up Team Kilau to customers and we have a little incentive to sweeten the deal; if you join our team and make a donation of £10, you’ll receive a 10% discount on all purchases for the entire month of November!
There is a sting in the tail, however. If any of you gentlemen currently enjoy a discount, it will be suspended for the month. So really, it’s better to join us. JOIN US.

Makin’ Tables

From used pallets (thanks Dad) do beautiful tables grow. But first some prep work.

Wanton destruction.

Some of them put up quite a fight.

And now I understand why Dana was laughing so much.

We worked hard, okay? We needed a beer!

Small but mighty. Like an Extra Strong Mint.

Don’t mess.

The Beast.

The Beast makes light work of the pallets!

Who knew the inside of pallets would be so beautiful?

Table Prototype 1. Looking pretty good, even if I do say so myself!

Plenty more work to do here, I’ll keep you posted.

A back garden update…

What was that? You haven’t heard anything new about the back garden? It doesn’t mean things haven’t been done. Check out this heap of photos!

Some soil enriching compost. (Thanks Dad!)

I broke the fork. I’m putting this down to my super strength rather than buying cheap tools. Right?

Some finely turned soil.

Mum plan ding up the garden like a champ! All the plants here have been gifted to us by the wonderful Diana – cuttings from her own garden no less! Cheers Diana!

A cracking job and looking brilliant!

And we may also have bought us some chairs! Its getting closer, folks!
